his unique power supply technology is now available for use with a wide variety of equipment. It is a stand alone power supply intended to upgrade the sonic performance of the audio component to which it is connected.
The power supply circuits in the majority of audio equipment tend to be based on the usual transformer, bridge rectifier, storage capacitor, voltage regulator topology. The electronic components used are generally of standard quality and provide adequate performance for the majority of people. Each of these components can be upgraded to ‘audiophile’ quality to gain significant improvement in sonic performance, but no matter how good the upgrade there will still be the influence of mains pollution percolating through and spoiling the end result. This is the reason that ‘Never Connected’ technology was developed. By isolating the voltage regulation circuits during the conduction cycle of the bridge rectifier, most if not all of the effects of mains pollution can be eliminated. The end result is a vast step forward in sound quality.
Rear view of a ‘Never Connected’ Power Supply
The box contains a printed circuit board with one toroidal mains transformer and two ‘Never Connected’ circuits, one positive voltage and the other a negative voltage. Each of the ‘Never Connected’ circuits is followed by a High Performance Voltage Regulator circuit (super regulators if you prefer) to provide a stable, low noise, wide bandwidth output voltage.
An output cable is provide to connect the power supply to the target unit.
In the case of certain equipment such as CD players or DACs etc. that have their original power supplies fitted internally, a connector will have to be fitted and internal connections will need to be made. In these cases the equipment will need to be sent to us for this small modification.
Items with external supplies such as the Wadia IPOD dock will just require the correct connector at the end of the dc lead.
‘Never Connected’ Power Supply showing internals.
Supplied in a sturdy aluminium case with custom ‘Trichord NC’ front and rear panels.
Silver or black case body with black end panels.
Available in single positive output voltage, single negative output voltage or both.
The output voltages can be set from anything between 3V to 30V
The NC Gen2 PSU can be configured for many products and give an upgrade over the original supply, the following list will give some idea of the possibilities:
Turntable motors that run from any dc voltage up to 30Vdc.
CD Players – dc section and analogue stages
Digital to Analog Converters (DAC)
Wadia IPOD dock – directly replaces the original external switched mode PSU
Older Trichord Products that this PSU can be used with:
Delphini Phono Stage
Orca Pre amplifier
Pulsar Series One Dac
